Basics
In Zork III, the player finds himself at the bottom of a long, winding staircase, met with visions of a mysterious aged man. Zork III is the gloomiest and most claustrophobic entry in the Zork Trilogy, taking gamers into the darkest corners of the underground kingdom. You goal is to collect treasure and gain as many of the seven available points as possible. You will encounter a number of characters on your journey, including a swordsman, a lonely sailor and the enigmatic Dungeon Master himself.
Commands
To save your game, type "save" and then give your name a game you can "load" next time. To quit, type "quit".
Controls
The Zork games are played by using a fairly simple verb/noun command technique. For instance, type "open door" to open a door, or type "go west" to move in that direction. It is through these simple commands that all of Zork's puzzles can be solved, but some of them are deceptively complicated. Two other very important commands are "look", which can be used to observe your surroundings, and "inventory" or "i", which will tell you what you are carrying.
Tip: Maps
It is very easy to get lost while playing Zork, so sketching a map as you go is recommended.
Tip: Saving
Zork III is notorious for a number of dead ends, so it is a good idea to save often.
