Basics
Much like Zork, your goal in Zork II is to collect as much treasure (and as many points) as possible. Once a powerful enchanter but now bordering on senility, the Wizard of Frobozz will appear at random during your quest to complicate matters with his spells. You must learn to use his magic to your advantage if you hope to win.
Commands
To save your game, type "save" and then give your name a game you can "load" next time. To quit, type "quit".
Controls
Zork II is played by using a fairly simple verb/noun command technique. For instance, type "open door" to open a door, or type "go west" to move in that direction. It is through these commands that all of Zork's puzzles can be solved. Two other very important commands are "look", which can be used to observe your surroundings, and "inventory", which will tell you what you are carrying. Note that it is very easy to get lost while playing Zork, so sketching a map as you go is recommended.
Tip: Shortcuts
There are often shortcuts for the most common commands. Instead of typing "Inventory", just type "i". Instead of typing "go north", try "go n" or just "n".
Tip: Saving
Save often. You never know when there's a ravenous grue waiting in the shadows just around the next corner…
