Lives
Each match is divided into three rounds. To win a round, strike your opponent until their energy bar, shown at the top of the screen, is completely empty. The first player to win two of these three rounds is declared the winner, and moves on to the next match. If you've lost a match, you can return to the game by pressing the one player or two player start buttons.
Getting Started
Press the one player start button to begin the game, then the two player start button if you'd like to enjoy an intense one-on-one battle with a friend. The character select screen appears... highlight the character of your choice, then press punch to start your first match.
Attacks
Every fighter has two punches and two kicks. Unlike in previous World Heroes games, each attack is assigned to its own button. Tap the light punch and kick buttons for quick strikes, and press the strong punch and kick buttons to bring the pain with more powerful attacks. Get close to your opponent, then press forward on the controller and the strong punch button together to throw them.
Movement
When the match begins, your hero and their opponent will appear on opposite ends of the screen. Press the controller either left or right to walk in those directions. Press up to jump (pressing it together with left or right will make your character jump in those directions), and down to duck. Press back on the controller when your opponent attacks to protect yourself.
Special Moves
Each character in World Heroes Perfect has a signature ability; something which sets that character apart from the rest of the cast. Press light punch, heavy punch, and light kick together to use this ability. These signature abilities are tailor-made for each character. For instance, burly football star Johnny Maximum can intercept projectiles and throw them back at his opponents!
Tip: Fake-Out
Want to lure your opponent into a trap? Hold down on the controller, then press Strong Punch and Light Kick together. You'll pretend to be dizzy, but it's all just a hoax -- you can snap out of the daze in an instant by pressing any attack button or direction on the controller.
Tip: Isn't THAT Special?
Each character has a special move which doubles in strength when the Hero meter at the bottom of the screen is fully charged. Hanzo's shuriken throw is one such example, growing in size when performed with a full Hero meter.
Tip: My Hero!
Hero moves are available to your fighter when your energy bar is reduced to half its original size. They're tough to perform, but there's nothing more satisfying than catching your opponent with one. They're even more incredible if you charge the Hero meter at the bottom of the screen first!
