Basics
You begin Tempest with three lives. Use the controls to move your shooter left and right around the edges of the playing field. To progress, destroy all the enemies on the screen. You can use your superzapper to annihilate all your enemies at once, but this weapon has limited use. Fortunately, the superzapper recharges at the start of each level.
Enemies
A few things to keep in mind: enemies that manage to advance to the edge of the playing field are very difficult to destroy. Often, they will come straight for you. Also, some enemies create green spikes on the screen. Make sure not to hit these as you travel from level to level, or you will be destroyed.
Tip: Superzapper
Use your superzapper judiciously. You can use it more than once, but the second blast is much less powerful than the first. After two blasts, you will need to wait until the next level for a recharge. Wait until there are a lot of enemies on the screen to maximize your points.
Tip: Warp Shot
Remember that you can still fire when traveling from level to level.
Tip: Difficulty
If you're really confident in your shooting skills, pick Tempest's hardest difficulty level for big bonus points from the get-go.
