Controls
To move your chef, press left or right. To climb up and down ladders, press up or down while standing near one. To leap from one platform to the next, or to jump on top of burger ingredients, press the jump button. The object of each level is to create the biggest burgers the world has ever seen. To do this, jump on top of each ingredient, then hold down and press the jump button repeatedly to stomp on it. A stomp or two is all it takes to drop the bun, lettuce or tomato to the next floor.
Getting Started
Press the one player start button to begin. You'll appear on the bottom of the screen, surrounded by gigantic burger ingredients and over a dozen animated food products gone bad...very, very bad. If it's too much for you to handle, invite a friend to play and press the two player start button. In the real world, too many chefs may spoil the soup, but in Super BurgerTime, you'll need all the help you can get.
Enemies
While you're making burgers, dangerous food items will be making your life miserable. Luckily, you start out with thirty seconds' worth of pepper. To stun the food products in your path, face them, then press the attack button. When the enemy is sufficiently seasoned, it will turn a golden brown. That's when you walk into it to push it off the screen. Enemies can also be squashed with dropped burger ingredients.
Powerups
If you find that your pepper shaker is empty, you can always replace it with one of the cooking utensils hanging from the sides of the screen. To claim one of these items, simply touch it as it swings toward you. You'll be given another thirty seconds to tenderize the food products chasing you. You may also find boots and aprons. Collect pink boots to increase your speed, blue boots to increase the height of your jumps and aprons to protect yourself from the enemies.
Goals
The level is finished when all burger ingredients have fallen to the bottom of the screen. Occasionally, you'll encounter nasty bosses. Fortunately, during these conflicts, you will always be armed with a plate full of hamburgers. Press the attack button to fling the burgers at the boss and give him a taste of flame-broiled defeat! Play continues until all levels are finished or you run out of lives.
Tip: Big Baddies
Some of the bad guys are tougher than others. You'll need to attack them several times to stun them.
Tip: Weaponry
Always keep your chef well-armed. Pay attention to the timer at the top of the screen...when it reaches five seconds, run to either side of the screen to collect a new weapon.
Tip: Tall Trouble
A few enemies, like the green onions in the later rounds, are very tall. So tall, in fact, that your chef could die even if he's standing above them, just by touching the tops of their heads.
