Basics
Starcross, like other text adventure games, is a work of interactive fiction. There are no graphics to look at, and no "action" to deal with. It's a story that you help write as it goes along, and everything happens at the pace with which you act. The words you type determine the outcome of the game, and you'll need to think carefully before deciding what to do.
Controls
You must use the game's the text parser to input instructions. Use simple English sentences to tell the computer the actions you wish to take. For instance, if you wish to look around simply type "Look." If you wish to move north (and there's a passage leading in that direction), you can do so by typing "Go north."
Techniques
You can collect items you find and examine and use them to solve puzzles, or interact with your computer and other creatures. You may make enemies as well as friends, so don't be afraid to fight if necessary. Try lots of different commands and think carefully about how to make things happen for your benefit -- you never know what will work until you make the effort!

Starcross is capable of recognizing more than 550 words, so make use of lots of different phrases and combinations. You never know what will work until you try it!
