Items
Slightly Magic in one part platform game and one part adventure. There are many items and objects that can be picked up and interacted with. To pick up an item, stand over it and press fire -- it will then be added to your inventory. You can access your inventory to use or drop an item at any time by pressing fire and can only carry up to four items at one time.
Gameplay
Slightly has a huge task to accomplish! Explore the castle and its mysterious grounds, pick up and use items, avoid, incapacitate or appease its magical and spooky inhabitants, and collect the spells while saving the princess. To move Slightly, press right or left. To jump or climb up, press up. To duck or climb down, press down.
Spells
Once you acquire the magic wand and a few spell pages, you can use them in conjunction with items to create spells. Spells must be read first via the inventory screen before they can be used and they must be always combined with an item to work.
Tip: Traps
In addition to contending with the many creatures inhabiting the castle and the surrounding countryside, Slightly will have to be careful to avoid the many traps and hazards that stand in his way. Watch out for spikes, fires, banana skins and more!
Tip: Stars
Collecting stars will replenish Slightly’s magic powers -- if he runs out, his spells will no longer be effective. In addition, collecting 20 stars will earn you an extra life.
Tip: Inventory
Slightly can only carry four items in his inventory at once. Pick a central location (such as the laboratory) to drop items you don’t immediately need so you will know their location later on when they are required.
Tip: Clues
The game will offer up some slight hints to help you figure out what item to use where. Try to logically think what would be needed to get past a certain obstacle. If all else fails and you’re still stuck, try experimenting with different items.
Tip: First Puzzles
An early place people get stuck is after feeding the rock monster the pile of rocks in the castle dungeon. Once he’s been fed, he activates a set of sparkles above the middle set of rocks (in the spike room with the ghost), which Slightly can then hop onto to get back up to the floor above.
