Controls
When the game begins, press the controller in any direction to walk in that direction. Tap the sword button to swing your weapon, and the punch button to throw punches. Press the jump button to jump upward; you can also punch and swing your sword while in mid-air. Push the projectile button to throw any projectiles you have in your possession: you begin the game with three throwing stars, but you can find other weapons in each stage.
Getting Started
Press the one player start button to begin Sengoku 3. After a brief tutorial, the character select screen will appear. Press left or right on the controller to select one of the four available warriors, then press the punch button to lock in that choice and proceed to the stage select screen. Press left or right again to highlight China, Italy, or Japan, then tap the punch button again to bust some ghosts, samurai style!
Combos
Combos are your key to high scores and swift victories. Press different combinations of the punch and sword button while standing next to an enemy to perform a combo. A small bar will appear on the bottom of the screen, letting you know how long you have to land the next blow and keep the combo going. Push the combo past ten hits and you'll earn bonus points as a reward for your skill.
Lives
You start the game with three lives, each with a limited amount of energy. When that energy runs out, your character drops to the floor, and you lose a life. Once all your lives are gone, the game ends. If you'd like to keep on fighting, press the one player or two player start buttons begin the continue timer in the middle of the screen counts down to zero. Choose your hero with the controller and punch button, and finish what you've started!
Magic
Sometimes even the sharpest blade isn't enough to defend you against the remains of Japan's greatest warriors. That's when magic comes in handy! Press down, down, and the sword button to use your first ninja trick. Press down, down, and the punch button to unleash a more potent attack. Finally, press down, up, and both sword and punch together to clear the screen of foes. You'll need magic (shown at the top of the screen as a blue bar) to perform these attacks.
Tip: Hand-Tossed Paint
There are several projectile weapons available to you in Sengoku 3, ranging from the all-purpose throwing star to the short-range but especially powerful bomb. Any weapons lying on the ground can be collected by standing over them, then pressing the punch (not the sword!) button.
Tip: Decoy Magic
If you're in a jam, press sword, punch, and jump together to escape your predicament and drop an explosive log onto your enemies. This costs you some of your health, so use this secret skill only as a last resort!
