Attacks
Now that you know how to defend yourself, it's time to deliver a little punishment of your own! Press the punch and kick buttons to perform those attacks. The length of time you hold down the button determines the strength of your blows: light taps result in a barrage of fast strikes, while holding down the button unleashes slow but powerful attacks. Press the buttons while jumping or ducking to target specific areas of your rival.
Advanced Techniques
Savage Reign has two features that most other fighting games lack... weapons, and the ability to jump to different sections of the playfield. Press the plane switch button and you'll leap to a platform in the distance, or hang from a wire suspended over the stage. Press it again and you'll return to the platform where you were standing previously. Tap the weapon button to swing your weapon, and the weapon and kick buttons together to throw it.
Matches
Each fight is divided into three rounds. Each combatant is given a limited supply of energy at the beginning of each round, and that energy is lost when fighters are struck by their opponents. The first player to lose all their energy drops in exhaustion and loses the round. Lose two rounds and the game is over! Press the one player start button before the continue timer expires to challenge your rival to a rematch.
Getting Started
Press the one player start button to begin Savage Reign, then tap the two player start button if you'd like to lock horns with a friend. The character select screen will appear. Press the controller in any direction to highlight one of the ten available heroes, then press the punch button to confirm your choice and start your first battle! Let the Reign pour down!
Movement
The character you've chosen will appear on the left side of the screen, with your opponent making an appearance on the right. After the fight begins, press left and right on the controller to walk in those directions. Press up to jump upward, and down to duck, giving your rival a smaller target. When your opponent strikes, press back on the controller to deflect the blow.
Tip: Sharpen Your Blade
No attack in your arsenal is more powerful than your weapon strikes and throws. Use your hero's weapon whenever the opportunity presents itself!
Tip: Nowhere to Run
Thrown weapons can hit opponents anywhere, even if they're standing on a different platform than you. You can also tackle these enemies by tapping the plane switch button.
