Controls
In a single-player game, play starts when you hit the action button. If you're serving, the action button will initiate the serve. If you're not serving, the CPU player will wait until you signal it to begin play by pressing the action button. Use the directional buttons to move around the court.
Aiming Your Shots
On the easy setting, you simply need to run into the ball with your racket. The angle of your shot depends on the direction you're heading and where the ball hits your racket. On the higher difficulty setting, you'll have to press the action button to swing and hit the ball. Hitting the ball while standing still or moving laterally results in a normal shot. Smack the ball while running forward for a high-velocity smash. And swing while running back from the net for a high lob shot.
Tip: Serving
It's worth noting that your serve can never go out of bounds, so don't be afraid to smack that ball as hard as you can. In fact, none of your shots will ever go long, though they can go wide.
Tip: Far Shot
If your opponent is on the far side of the court, run forward and smash the ball in the opposite direction to get a guaranteed point.
Tip: Pop Fly
If your opponent is playing close to the net, that's the time to backpedal and lob the ball over his head. If you manage to do it, he'll almost never be able to get back from the net in time to return.
