Basics
Quest for Glory has some role-playing elements to it, which means that before the quest can begin, you need to choose a character and set up his attributes. There are three classes to choose from: fighter, magic user and thief. The fighter is physically strong and uses his sword to take care of trouble. The magic user has spells at his disposal to get the job done. The thief relies on trickery and cunning. One class is not better than the next, so choose the one you like best.
Commands
Use your arrow keys or the mouse to move around the game world. To interact with your environment, you must type in commands using a simple noun/verb arrangement. For instance, to talk to the local shopkeepers, walk up to one and type "talk merchant" -- or simply, "talk". To enter a building or structure, type "open door" and walk inside. These commands are very similar to those used in the text adventures of old.
Combat
Of course, any hero worth his salt will occasionally find himself in battle. Type "fight" to attack an advancing monster. You can also throw weapons or cast spells from afar. Once locked in battle, use the numerical keypad to swing your sword and dodge attacks. To swing high, press 7; to thrust, press 8; to swing low, press 9; to parry high, medium or low, press 4, 5 or 6; to dodge left, back or right, hit 1, 2 or 3.
Tip: Beggars
Give to the beggars if you can spare the money. Not only will you increase your honor stats, but you might receive some valuable info.
Tip: Spoils of War
Winning battles improves your character's stats and often results in finding treasure or other valuable items. Always check your vanquished foe's corpse!
Trick: King Arthur
As you wander the desert, you may come across the body of King Arthur (star of Conquests of Camelot, released around the same time as Quest for Glory II). Look at the body for a funny message.
