Getting Started
To start a game, select one or two players and then your craft of choice (you have two from which to choose -- although they look different, they control and perform the same). When you’re ready to race, press fire to jump into your first heat.
Controls
The gameplay in Powerboat Simulator is deceptively simple, yet the game is definitely challenging and difficult to master. Steer your powerboat by pressing left and right. To accelerate, press forward. To brake, pull back. To drop mines from the rear of your craft, press the fire button.
Goals
The goal of Powerboat Simulator is to make it from the starting line to the finish in one piece. Unfortunately, enemy craft, crazed swimmers, depth charges, challenging terrain, your boat’s ability to burn fuel at an alarmingly fast rate and even time, all conspire against you.
Tip: Pace
Powerboat Simulator is all about risk versus reward. While you have to make sure you drive fast in order to beat the clock before it reaches zero, you need to also make sure you don’t run into the winding trackside or get hit by enemy craft or bombs. Try and strike a balance, keeping your boat somewhere near the lower middle of the screen, which will allow you to see what’s coming up next.
Tip: Attacks
While your boat is equipped with a limited amount of mines to deter the onslaught of enemies, you can also use your craft to bump into your enemies in an attempt to run them into the side of the track. This strategy can also work against a second player -- if you don’t feel like playing cooperatively.
Tip: Jumps
Keep your eyes peeled for ramps with arrows on them. These will launch your craft over low hanging bridges and other trackside hazards that normally can’t be circumvented. Whenever you jump off a ramp, make sure you are accelerating at maximum speed in order to clear the hazard.
