Tip: Rejecting Condiments
The art of rejecting condiments is critical to success, since you lose a performance point for every one that splatters against the far wall. Keep in mind that you can't get rid of a condiment once you catch it, so you'll have to slap it on a burger and hope someone orders it.
Tip: Performance
You start with 50 performance points, and gain or lose them based on how well you’re doing. Gain points for placing condiments properly and dropping them into the correct color-coded wrapping chute. Lose points for wasting condiments, dropping burgers or putting them in the wrong chute. The game ends when your performance rating is reduced to zero.
Basics
Pressure Cooker can be played by one player or by two taking turns. Choose the game difficulty and number of players with the select key. After a catchy little intro song, the burgers start rolling down the conveyor belt and the real work begins!
Controls
Maneuver Sam around the kitchen with the direction keys. To your left is the conveyor belt, with partially assembled burgers on it. To the right is the Condiment Dispenser, which fires out ingredients for individual burger orders. You need to place the right combination of tomato, lettuce, onion and cheese onto each burger, then put the top bun on and run the burger into the Wrapping Room.
Orders
At the bottom of the screen is the order board. Only three orders are active at any time. Across the top of the order board you’ll see a graphic representation of each of the condiments, and a check under these condiments indicates which are required for which burger. The trick is to keep track of which condiments you already have and which condiments you need, since the machine is hurling condiments out of order.
Scoring
You must catch the condiments as they whiz toward you by allowing them to hit Sam in the stomach. If they hit him anywhere else, or fly across to the conveyor belt, the condiment is wasted and you lose points. To reject a condiment that you don’t need, position yourself to catch it. Press the fire button and Sam will bounce the unwanted topping off his tummy and back to the machine.
Goals
Once a burger has all the toppings it needs, the machine flings a top bun at you, allowing you to complete the burger. Now you must take the burger into the Wrapping Room by running off the bottom of the screen. Note the color of the order -- red, green, or blue. Carry the finished burger to the wrapping machine with the corresponding color, and drop it in the chute by pressing the fire key. Then run back up to start filling more orders! No pressure...
Tip: Ingredients
The real challenge of Pressure Cooker is keeping track of the status of all the burgers on the conveyor belt. Remember that the condiment machine shoots toppings out of order, so you need to know what each of the three outstanding orders requires (and what they already have) to avoid wasting ingredients.
Tip: Order Board
The order board can be confusing at first, since things move so fast in this game. Remember that you don’t have to assemble the burgers in the order that they appear on the board -- you just need to get the right condiments onto the right burgers.
