Lives
You begin Prehistoric Isle II with three choppers. Each chopper is vulnerable to the dinosaurs and the flaming projectiles they spit. If you get Tyrannosaurus-wrecked, a chopper is lost. Lose all your choppers and the game ends. To return to the spot where you lost your last chopper, press the one player or two player start buttons. The game ends when every stage has been cleared, and the final boss has been crushed.
Rescue
Your primary objective in each stage is to exterminate the prehistoric beasts that have somehow invaded the 21st century, but from time to time, you'll also need to rescue civilians trapped in the battle zone. When you see people throwing themselves from crumbling buildings, fly over them to pick them up. They'll cling to a ladder dangling from your chopper until a medivac helicopter or ambulence appears. Touch either vehicle to evacuate the civilians and earn bonus weapons.
Weapons
Weapons appear when you defeat dinosaurs or when you rescue helpless civilians. Collect the brightly colored icons with letters stamped on them to improve your firepower. The gun weapon strengthens your cannons, while the missile weapon arms you with explosive warheads. Finally, bombs replenish your supply of double helix attacks, while stars add to the bonus you'll receive at the end of each stage.
Controls
When your helicopter appears, press any direction on the controller to move it around the screen. Tap the fire button repeatedly to fire your chopper's side-mounted cannons, or hold the button down for a less potent but more finger-friendly rapid-fire blast. In desperate times, press the bomb button and your chopper will unleash a powerful double helix attack that scorches any giant lizards in its path. You have a limited supply of these attacks, so use them wisely!
Getting Started
Press the one player start button to begin your war against the dinosaurs, then the two player button if you'd like some much-needed assistance from a friend. The player select screen will appear. Press the controller left and right to select between the two available pilots, then tap the fire button to lock in your choice. When both players have made their selections, they're thrown into the charred battlefield that was once known as New York City.
Tip: Bombs Away!
If deadly dinos are blocking your path to a civilian, just tap the bomb button and fire off a double helix shot. Even if it doesn't destroy the dinosaurs, you can use your temporary invincibility to sneak past them and rescue the civilian.
Tip: Score Multipliers
Weapons can only be powered up four times. However, you'll want to collect more weapons even after you've maxed out your firepower, because doing this starts a bonus timer. Hitting enemy targets while the bonus timer is active increases their point values by up to sixteen times!
