Getting Started
Press the one player start button to begin your journey through time, then the two player start button to team up with another player. The character select screen will appear. Press left or right on the controller to select between brawny American ninja Joe, slender young archer Rayar, or the mysterious Eastern assassin Ryu. Once you've made your choice, press the shot button to confirm your decision and start the game!
Special Moves
Even when the situation seems hopeless, a ninja never accepts defeat. Press the ninja trick button to unleash your fighter's most powerful attack -- your enemies will be overwhelmed with a scorching rain of fire. Using your fighter's ninja trick will cost them a quarter of their life bar. If your life bar is flashing “Danger!!,” the trick can't be used at all!
Controls
Your ninja commando will begin his mission in the distant future. Use the controller to walk in any direction, and tap the shot button to fire your primary weapon. Tap the shot button quickly and you'll increase the power of your attack! Your warrior can also dodge attacks by pressing the controller in any direction and tapping the flip button to somersault in that direction. Tap the shot button immediately afterward to throw a massive ninja star in the opposite direction of your flip!
Powerups
Your fighter is strong indeed, but there's always room for improvement! Break apart the stones, barrels, and other objects in your path to reveal power-boosting scrolls. You may also find coins (redeemable for points at the end of the stage) and food items like sushi and barbecued beef. Pick up the food and you'll recover some of the life you lost while fighting Spider's forces.
Lives
As a ninja, you live by the throwing star and die by the throwing star. You lose life (shown at the bottom of the screen as a yellow bar) whenever you rub shoulders with enemies or are struck with their weapons. Once the life bar is empty, it flashes "Danger!!," indicating that your next mistake will be your last! If you're defeated in battle, press the one player or two player start button to resume the game from the last point you reached.
Tip: Deadly Moves
Each ninja has a special hidden move which can be performed with a controller motion, followed by a tap of the shot button. For instance, Rayar's Fire Spread can be used by pressing down, then up, then the shot button. These attacks are less powerful than a ninja trick, but can be used indefinitely with no cost to your life bar.
Tip: One Trick Pony
Bosses have a tendency to drain your life quickly. Sometimes, it's better to just exhaust your life bar with ninja tricks than to try to battle the boss with your standard weapons.
