Basics
Golf is not a complex game. Hit the ball with a club to knock it into a tiny hole a few hundred feet away. The fewer swings it takes to get the ball into the hole, the better -- you want as low a score as possible. After eighteen holes, your score is tallied and the game is over.
Aiming
In the upper right corner of the screen is a map of the current hole you're playing. Use the left and right directional keys to change which direction you hit the ball -- and check the wind indicator to make sure you don't get blown off course. Press the Hook button to intentionally spin the ball to the left, or the Slice button to spin to the right.
Power
Press the Swing button to stop the power meter in the lower-right. The more the meter is colored in when it stops, the more force will be behind your swing -- near 100% will whack the ball far, while less power allows for a more delicate placement of the ball onto the green. After you've set the power, the final meter begins moving to determine where on the ball your club hits. Choose whether to make a high arc shot or one lower to the ground and press the Swing button once more to let fly!
Putting
When you’ve reached the green, you’ll move into putt mode -- low-power swings to move the ball those last few inches into the hole. After you’ve lined up your shot, hit the Swing button to start your swing. Watch the meter to figure out how much power to apply to your putt and hit the button again to nudge the ball.
Continuing
Each hole has a "par", the number of shots the game expects you to take to sink the ball into the hole. Birdies and other under-par scores will result in an extra hole, extending the game. Shooting over-par will reduce your number of remaining holes and will send you back to the clubhouse sooner than you’d like.
Tip: Wind
Make sure you factor the wind’s direction and strength into your shots.
Tip: Golfers
The six golfers each have different ratings in the game’s attributes, Driving, Accuracy, Skill, Recovery and Putting. Find the golfer who best matches your style.
Tip: Contests
Neo Turf Masters likes to keep the game interesting by dropping in the occasional challenge while your playing. “Closest to the Pin” tests your ability to drop the ball nearest the hole. “Longest Drive” lets you bring out your inner Happy Gilmore and slam the ball for distance. Beat the high score and earn a bonus hole!
