Getting Started
Use the select button to determine the game difficulty and the number of players: as you tap select, two numbers will appear atop the screen. The number on the left indicates the challenge level of the math problems, and the number on the right indicates how many players will be racing. There are nine game variations: games 1-3 contain only addition and subtraction problems, games 4-6 contain only multiplication and division problems, and games 7-9 contain both.
Gameplay
At each turn, you have the option to move two or three spaces on the track, as indicated by the numbers atop the screen. Tap the left directional key to select two spaces, or right to select three, then press fire to confirm. You’re then presented with a math problem to solve. Get it right, and your car moves ahead the number of spaces you chose. Two-space problems are slightly easier than three-space problems, but of course you won’t move as far ahead.
Attacking
You can bump an opponent off the track by coming up from behind and pulling your car parallel to theirs. The opponent is bumped off and their car is broken. The computer selects a two-space problem for them to solve -- if they get it right, the car is fixed and they can move again on their next turn.
Solving
To solve a problem, use the up and down directional keys to select numbers 0-9. Move the cursor forward with the right direction key to form multi-digit numbers. The left direction key is a backspace. When you’re happy with your answer, press the fire button. If you’re right, you move ahead. The first vehicle that gets to the end of the track wins the race!
Tip: Avoiding Crashes
Stay out of your opponent's way! Try not to be two or three spaces ahead of your opponent at the end of your turn unless you finish on an “n” square. Doing this whenever possible will keep you out of harm's way.
Tip: Take Your Time
There is not a timer for solving the math problems, so take your time. Don’t lose because you made a simple mistake in addition.
