Basics
King's Quest III is quite an old game, and thus does not support mouse inputs. Instead, you control the hero using the directional keys and type in which actions you want him to perform. Press the Escape button to open up the game's menus and access more commands such as save, load, inventory management, and game speed.
Commands
Everything in King's Quest is done through a typing interface at the bottom of the screen. Don't make your commands too specific, or you may confuse the system. Best to keep it to a verb and object, like the Lone Ranger's Tonto. Commands like "look room," "open desk," "take crown," and so forth are the most effective in this game.
Tip: Repeat
To speed things up, tap the F3 key to repeat whichever command you typed last.
Tip: Movement
To walk diagonally (up and down stairs, for example), make sure NumLock is turned off on your keyboard and use the number pad for movement. 7, 9, 1 and 3 are all diagonal movement buttons now.
Tip: Points
When untying Rosella, if the Dragon catches you he'll breathe flame on you both, ending the game. A weird oddity is that you can keep untying Rosella (use the F3 command) over and over again, giving you more points than the maximum amount. Of course, your game is about to end, so it doesn't actually earn you anything.
