Basics
Push up, down, left, and right to move your plane in the corresponding direction. Press fire to shoot your guns and hold fire and press left or right to perform a 180-degree turn. Your base is always on the far right of the level, with the enemy fortress on the far left. If you reach the edge of the level, your plane will automatically be forced to turn around.
Scoring
Shoot everything you see for points. Planes, jetpacks, and parachutists are worth 200 points. Tanks are worth 300 points. Anti-aircraft guns are worth 400 points. If you can shoot down a jet, you’ll earn 700 points.
Rescue
When you hit the fortress gate while carrying the dynamite, your plane will crash…but you won’t lose a life. A new plane appears on the nearby runway, ready to take the hostages back home as soon as they emerge.
Hostages
The on-screen counter shows how many men have been saved and how many hostages remain. As you progress to each new level, the number of hostages will increase. You can only carry two hostages at a time, however. If your plane is shot down while carrying the hostages, the game is over.
Tip: Bomb Catch
If the bomb-carrying plane appears behind you, don’t bother making a 180-degree turn. Let it pass in front of you and shoot it down from behind. Shoot it down over a clear area to give yourself room to catch the explosive as it falls.
Tip: Buildings
Your shots can pass in front of buildings, but your plane won’t! Avoid all the buildings except for the enemy fortress.
Tip: UFO
Rumors have it that a UFO has been spotted in the city. Keep your eyes and ears open. If you can shoot it down, you’ll earn bonus points.
Tip: Takeoff and Landing
Your plane is more maneuverable than you might think, so you won’t need to use the length of the runway for take-offs and landings. You can take off immediately, almost vertically, and can drop down and land at full speed.
