Getting Started
Press the one player start button to enter a fighting tournament that will take you around the world and back! If you'd like to get in a few rounds with a friend before you start your journey, just press the two player start button afterwards. Once the game begins, the character select screen will appear. Press the controller in any direction to highlight a hero, then press an attack button to make your selection. Finally, select your first opponent with the controller and an attack button.
Movement
Once you arrive at your first location, press left or right on the controller to make your way around the arena. Tap twice in either direction to advance or retreat more quickly. Pressing away from your opponent lets you block their attacks. You can also duck under high-flying punches by holding down, and jump over low kicks by tapping up. Press up along with left or right to leap in either direction. Finally, press light punch and light kick together to escape into the background.
King of the Ring
Each fight takes place over three rounds -- that's three chances to beat your opponent. At the start of each round, you and your opponent are given a limited supply of health, shown at the top of the screen as a bar. Unblocked attacks shrink the health bar; drain your opponent's health completely and you'll win the round. Win two rounds and you'll advance to a more difficult fight. If you lose a fight, you can always try again by pressing the one player start button before time expires.
Controls
There are four attacks in Fatal Fury Special, including two punches and two kicks. Press the light punch or light kick to dish out quick strikes. Press the hard punch or hard kick buttons to deliver some serious pain to your opponent! Each character in the game also has a handful of special attacks, accessed with a joystick motion followed by one of the four attack buttons. For instance, Terry Bogard's Burning Knuckle is performed by pressing down, down-left, left, and a punch button.
Tip: Desperation Moves
If you think the game's special moves are incredible, just wait until you see the desperation moves! These especially damaging attacks can only be performed when your health bar flashes yellow, but you can attempt them as often as you like until either you or your opponent is knocked out.
Tip: Know the Art of Fighting
Especially skilled players have a reward waiting for them at the end of the game. If you can beat all your opponents without losing a single round, you'll face off against a character from another SNK series in one of gaming's most exciting cameo appearances!
