Basics
The goal of the game is to score points by throwing the ball through the basket. Double Dunk is played on a half-court, so both teams share the same basket (instead of a full-court game where each team has a basket on opposite sides). Shots made near the basket are more accurate, but shots made from far away score more points.
Players
You've got two players on your team. The taller one is Mr. Inside, and the shorter one is Mr. Outside. Mr. Inside is better at rebounds and taking close shots, while Mr. Outside is better at stealing the ball and making long shots. The computer will control the other player on your team and both players of the opposing team.
Selecting Plays
Before each play, you'll be designated as being either on offense (OFF) or defense (DEF). If on offense, push in any direction to call a play: Upper left or right for Pick and Roll; left or right for Give and Go; lower left or right for Pick Left or Right; up to set Mr. Inside to shoot; down for Mr. Outside to shoot. If on defense, try to anticipate what your opponent will choose and call the same play to block it.
Controls
Once the play is selected, move around the court with the directional keys. Execute your play by pressing the fire button (for instance, a Give and Go play passes control back and forth between players before making a shot; press the fire button to pass).
Tip: Who's My Man?
When on offense, you have direct control over the player with the ball. While on defense, you have direct control over the player guarding the ball. He's the one holding his arms over his head.
Tip: Watch Your Footwork
When fighting for a rebound near the net, it's very easy to go out of bounds. Be careful not to hold up on the direction pad when you're near the goal line.
Tip: Quick Shot
Remember that you can abandon your pre-set play at any time and take a shot at the net by holding down on the directional pad and pressing the action button.
Tip: But Not A Double
Attempting to shoot while right under the net will usually result in your player performing a dunk.
Tip: Back Off
Remember to clear the ball if you pick up a rebound below the net. To clear, dribble behind the three-point line before heading back in to take a shot.
