Basics
Hit a segment of the centipede and it turns into a mushroom, breaking the bugger into two separate advancing menaces. Should the marching beast meet a mushroom in its path, it moves a row downwards and changes direction. The centipede continues to move to the bottom of the screen, at which point it will gain a new segment and turn around. You're allowed limited movement within the bottom fifth of the playfield to avoid the centipede if it gets too close.
Object
One or two players can challenge the centipede, though not at the same time. The object of the game is to defeat the centipede on each level by destroying every last segment of its body. Get as many points as possible by blasting mushrooms and the other creatures that pass across the screen.
Enemies
The centipede isn't the only bug you have to worry about. Spiders, fleas and scorpions appear to make your life yet more difficult. The spider bounces across the playfield, making mushrooms disappear. Fleas drop from the top of the screen to the bottom, leaving mushrooms behind in their wake. Finally, scorpions streak across the screen turning the mushrooms they touch into poisonous mushrooms, which cause the centipede to dive to the bottom of the screen if it touches one. Look out!
Tip: Collar
Since it is their job to distribute mushrooms, fleas tend to appear when there are a limited number of mushrooms in the player area. Keep the 'shroom level at a manageable size and you'll see less of these annoying critters.
Tip: Antivenom
Immediately destroy any poisonous mushrooms that the scorpion creates. You'll be glad you did.
Tip: Corridor
Remember that each segment of the centipede that is destroyed turns into a mushroom. Time your shots correctly and you can create a "corridor" of mushrooms. The centipede will march right into the path of your blaster!
