Getting Started
Press the one player start button to begin the game, then the two player start button if you'd like to challenge a friend to a versus battle. After a brief introduction, the character select screen will appear. Push left or right on the controller to highlight the fighter you like best, then press any attack button to lock in your choice. The first match will begin after you've made your selection.
Movement
Your fighter appears on the left side of the screen, with your opponent on the right. Press left or right on the controller to walk in those directions. Press up to jump; you can also press up and left, or up and right together to leap in those directions. Press down to duck incoming attacks, and back (for instance, left if you're facing right) to block those flying fists and feet.
Attacks
Each member of the Breakers cast has three punches and three kicks, each of varying strengths. Press the light punch or light kick buttons to keep your opponent at bay with a barrage of lightning fast strikes. Press the hard punch or hard kick buttons to crush your rival with slow but devastating attacks. Finally, press the light and heavy punch buttons or light and heavy kick buttons together for even more powerful blows.
Special Moves
The stars of Breakers are a cut above your ordinary martial artist. Each one is armed with amazing special attacks, all performed with joystick motions and button presses. For instance, Tia throws a spinning energy disc when you press down, down-forward, forward, and a punch button. Experiment with different joystick motions and button presses to uncover each character's arsenal of special attacks!
Matches
Each match in Breakers is split into three rounds. A round ends when a fighter is knocked out or time expires. The player with the most energy at the end of the round is declared the winner of that round. The first player to win two rounds wins the match, and advances to the next opponent. If you lose a match, press the one player or two player start buttons before the continue timer counts down to zero to declare a rematch.
Tip: Super Moves
In addition to special attacks, each character in Breakers has an assortment of even mightier super attacks. To perform these flashy moves, enter a joystick motion for a standard special move twice, then press the appropriate punch or kick button. Remember, super attacks can only be performed after the meter on the bottom of the screen has been filled.
Tip: Dizzy
Keep the heat on your opponent! If you can hit them repeatedly, they'll drop to the ground, leaving behind a trail of shadows. These shadows appear to let you know that your opponent will be dizzy when they return to their feet...the perfect time to inflict even more punishment!
