getting started
Press the one player start button to begin your quest. Blue's Journey is a single player game, so nothing stands between you and the leader of the Dharma tribe. Well, nothing but a thousand cranky monsters, anyway! Press left or right on the controller to make Blue walk in those directions. Press the attack button to drop a leaf on the ground, and the size button to shrink into an even smaller form.
Enemies
Soon after starting the game, you'll cross paths with many dangerous creatures. Most are only a couple of inches tall, but they're still dangerous to you! Press the attack button while standing near these miniature monsters to stun them briefly. Walk over the stunned monsters to pick them up and carry them. While you're holding a creature, press the attack button to throw it. You can use thrown monsters to clear away other onscreen foes.
Powerups
There are many treasures to be found in Raguy, but in this tiny kingdom, riches come in the form of flowers rather than gold or silver. Collect as many flowers as you can find... they'll come in handy once you've found a shop. Also, be sure to collect the leaf power-ups, which increase the distance of your attacks. Finally, pick up a bamboo shoot and you'll grow in size, making you invincible for a few seconds.
Lives
Being as small as he is, Blue is vulnerable to practically anything that moves. If he's caught by a creature, he'll lose one of his life hearts, shown at the top of the screen. When Blue loses both hearts, he's knocked out, and you'll lose a life. Lose all three of the lives you're given and the game is over! Press the one player start button before time expires to continue from where you lost your last life.
Buildings
On your journey, you'll find houses and shops marked with the word "In." Walk over to these buildings and press up on the controller to enter them. You'll find characters inside waiting to talk to you; answer their questions by highlighting a response and pressing the attack button. While in a shop, move the cursor over the item you'd like to buy, then press the attack button to purchase it (assuming you have enough flowers).
Tip: You CAN Take It With You!
Item safes, found in the shops, allow you to hold onto any weapons you've collected even after you lose a life. It's a smart investment if you've got an especially powerful weapon like the explosive acorns.
Tip: Flower Frugality
Near the beginning of the game, you'll find a house where you can rent a boat for either five or ten flowers. However, you don't actually need the boat to cross the river nearby. Save your money, and swing across the river by jumping onto the vine dangling over it.
