Basics
Adventure's gameplay is simplicity itself. Use your directional pad to move around each screen, and the action button to pick up and drop items. Since you can only carry one item at a time (this includes your sword, color-coded keys, bridge, magnet and prized Enchanted Chalice), Adventure is all about inventory management.
Enemies
Each castle gate requires a key of the same color. Avoid the dragons -- or skewer them with your sword -- and watch out for the black bat flying around the world. It'll steal items right out from under you if you're not careful.
Winning
Once you find the Enchanted Chalice, return to the Yellow Castle as quickly as you can. And don't worry about the Evil Magician -- he won't make an appearance in this world, instead leaving his dragons to do all his dirty work for him.
Tip: Easter Egg 1
Here is an explanation of how you can find Warren Robinett's secret room. To begin, select game level two or three. Go into the Black Castle and walk up the screen until you enter the maze.
Tip: Easter Egg 3
Crossing the bridge will take you into a small secret room, in which you must search for a live pixel hidden in the wall. Once you find that single pixel, pick it up. It may take you a few tries. Push against a wall to make sure you're holding it.
Tip: Easter Egg 2
Take the first left. Pass off the screen to the left and you will come to a dead end. Use the bridge to move upward. Move around to the left and down. Using the bridge a second time, continue further downward.
Tip: Easter Egg 4
Carry the pixel outside the Black Castle. Place the pixel near the entrance to the maze that is located one screen down and just to the right of the Yellow Castle. Now bring two more objects to this location (any two will do). Once you place other objects in this screen, a secret door on the right side of the screen will open.
Tip: Easter Egg 5
Pass through this door to witness -- DUM DUM DUM -- the first ever Easter Egg in videogames. Now imagine: someone stumbled upon this by accident!
