Gameplay
3D Tic-Tac-Toe is the traditional game of Tic-Tac-Toe, with a unique twist. In this game, it takes four marks in a row to win, rather than the usual three. Also, the playfield has depth...there are four planes, stacked on top of each other. The player can take advantage of the lower planes, lining up marks on them when the opponent blocks a move on another plane. Players can also draw a line of marks that extends through every plane, claiming a 3D Tic-Tac-Toe victory!
Getting Started
Press the Select button to select from the options available, then the Reset button to begin the game. Four planes appear onscreen, each with sixteen squares. In a one player game, you are given the X's, while the computer opponent is given the O's. In a two player game, the left player is given the O's, while the right player is assigned the X's.
Controls
When it's your turn, move the controller in any direction to move your cursor around the planes. To move between the four planes, press down while at the bottom of the current plane, or up while at the top. When you've found the square where you'd like to place a mark, press the fire button. An X or an O will appear at that spot, and the opponent will be given a turn to play their own mark on the screen.
Winning
Gameplay continues until one player has dropped a row of four Xs or Os somewhere on the playfield. This line of marks can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. It can even extend through the four planes on the screen...such a victory is difficult to obtain, but well worth the effort!
Tip: Defense
A good Tic-Tac-Toe player places equal emphasis on defense and offense. Don't get so occupied with building a line of marks that you completely ignore your opponent's own attempts to claim victory.
Tip: Two-Pronged Attack
Place marks strategically, giving yourself several four-in-a-row possibilities and creating a no-win situation for your opponent. When your rival tries to block a line you're building, you'll be able to finish another in your next turn!
